WINTER RETREAT ON THE YUCATAN PENINSULA – MARCH 24-30, 2023

Relax, unwind, and practice yoga on the calm and peaceful island of Holbox, a virgin tourist destination on the north coast of the Yucatan Peninsula. The venue for our yoga retreat is Villas Flamingos, a boutique hotel whose waterfront location, directly on the sparkling waters of the Yum Balam Reserve lagoon, make it a unique destination. Our twice daily yoga sessions will be held in a thatched-roof palapa at Casa Hridaya, just a short walk from Villas Flamingos. In our third floor aerie, we practice with views of the ocean laid out before our eyes. Between classes there will be time to cool down in the seafront pool, walk along the beach to town, paddleboard in the pristine waters, go for a kayak tour, bike around the island, or simply surrender to the slow rhythm of island life by doing “nothing”. Click here for more details.

YOGA FOR DEPRESSION & ANXIETY STUDY

Our latest study on Yoga for Depression and Anxiety has been published in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine, March, 2017, with impressive results. In a group of beginning yoga practitioners diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder, practicing 90 minutes of yoga twice a week, along with some home practice, significantly decreased symptoms of depression and anxiety as measured by MRI technology and Beck’s Depression Inventory scale.
